About the role
ACREST is recruiting an HR Manager to lead recruitment, employment administration, onboarding, performance management and employee wellbeing. The role will help build consistent HR systems for a growing, geographically distributed workforce while ensuring alignment with Cameroonian labour requirements and CNPS obligations.
The role is based in Cameroon and requires regular travel to programme implementation and distribution areas depending on operational needs.
About ACREST
ACREST is a Cameroonian non-governmental organisation developing practical, locally grounded solutions that improve livelihoods, strengthen communities and support sustainable development. ACREST is expanding a large-scale clean cooking programme focused on improving access to efficient cooking solutions for households and communities across the West, Littoral and South-West regions of Cameroon. The programme combines stove distribution, community engagement, monitoring, technical operations and the progressive development of local production capacity. ACREST is also developing CleanTechCameroon SARL, its subsidiary dedicated to local clean-technology production and related industrial activities.
Responsibilities
- Lead recruitment processes, contracts, onboarding and employee records.
- Maintain HR policies, procedures and templates appropriate to ACREST’s growth.
- Ensure employment practices align with Cameroonian labour requirements and CNPS obligations.
- Coordinate probation, performance reviews, leave and contract renewals.
- Support payroll inputs and employee administration in coordination with finance.
- Develop practical staff wellbeing, communication and employee-support practices.
- Advise managers on people issues, performance and team organisation.
- Maintain confidential personnel files and HR data.
- Support training plans and professional development.
- Contribute to workforce planning for future programme and CleanTechCameroon growth.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, law, management or a related field.
- At least five years of relevant HR experience, preferably including HR responsibility in Cameroon.
- Strong working knowledge of Cameroonian labour practices, employment contracts and CNPS administration.
- Experience with recruitment, onboarding, performance management and personnel administration.
- Strong interpersonal judgement and confidentiality.
- Good organisational and documentation skills.
- Professional proficiency in English or French; bilingual capability is strongly preferred.
- Comfort working with managers and staff across multiple locations.
- Right to work in Cameroon.
Specific requirements
- Experience establishing HR systems in a growing organisation is an advantage.
- A practical interest in employee wellbeing and team culture is important.
- Experience supporting payroll processes is helpful but the role is not primarily an accounting position.
