About the role

ACREST is recruiting a Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Manager to design and manage the programme’s performance, data and learning systems. The role will ensure that field information is collected consistently, analysed responsibly and translated into practical management insight. The MEL Manager will work closely with programme, field and management teams to strengthen evidence-based implementation and reporting.

The role is based in Cameroon and requires regular travel to programme implementation and distribution areas depending on operational needs.

About ACREST

ACREST is a Cameroonian non-governmental organisation developing practical, locally grounded solutions that improve livelihoods, strengthen communities and support sustainable development. ACREST is expanding a large-scale clean cooking programme focused on improving access to efficient cooking solutions for households and communities across the West, Littoral and South-West regions of Cameroon. The programme combines stove distribution, community engagement, monitoring, technical operations and the progressive development of local production capacity. ACREST is also developing CleanTechCameroon SARL, its subsidiary dedicated to local clean-technology production and related industrial activities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the programme MEL framework, indicators, tools and reporting calendar.
  • Design practical data-collection processes for field teams and implementation partners.
  • Monitor programme outputs, outcomes, milestones and implementation quality.
  • Review data quality and support corrective action where gaps are identified.
  • Produce regular dashboards, management summaries and analytical reports.
  • Coordinate surveys, assessments, field verification and learning activities.
  • Train and support staff on data collection, indicator interpretation and reporting practices.
  • Maintain organised programme datasets and documentation with appropriate confidentiality and access controls.
  • Support programme reviews and help teams use evidence to adapt implementation.
  • Contribute to internal and external reporting as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in monitoring and evaluation, statistics, economics, development studies, public health, social sciences, data science or a related field.
  • A relevant Master’s degree is an advantage.
  • At least five years of relevant experience in monitoring, evaluation, research, data management or programme learning.
  • Demonstrated ability to design indicators, data-collection tools and reporting systems.
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with data-collection or visualisation tools is an advantage.
  • Strong attention to detail and data-quality discipline.
  • Professional proficiency in English or French; bilingual capability is preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to field locations.
  • Right to work in Cameroon.

Specific requirements

  • Experience in multi-site or community-based programmes is an advantage.
  • Experience training field teams in data collection and reporting is strongly preferred.
  • The role should remain programme-focused and will collaborate with, rather than replace, specialised technical compliance functions.
