About the role

ACREST is recruiting two Finance Assistants to support the Accountant with transaction processing, expense verification, petty cash, filing, reconciliations and audit documentation. One assistant may support headquarters activities while the other may provide support across programme locations as operational needs evolve.

The role is based in Cameroon and requires regular travel to programme implementation and distribution areas depending on operational needs.

About ACREST

ACREST is a Cameroonian non-governmental organisation developing practical, locally grounded solutions that improve livelihoods, strengthen communities and support sustainable development. ACREST is expanding a large-scale clean cooking programme focused on improving access to efficient cooking solutions for households and communities across the West, Littoral and South-West regions of Cameroon. The programme combines stove distribution, community engagement, monitoring, technical operations and the progressive development of local production capacity. ACREST is also developing CleanTechCameroon SARL, its subsidiary dedicated to local clean-technology production and related industrial activities.

Responsibilities

  • Verify invoices, receipts, expense claims and supporting documents.
  • Support data entry and maintenance of accounting records.
  • Assist with petty-cash management and reconciliations.
  • Prepare payment files and organise supporting documentation.
  • Maintain orderly digital and physical finance archives.
  • Support bank and account reconciliations.
  • Assist with budget tracking and routine financial summaries.
  • Follow up missing documents with programme and field teams.
  • Support audit preparation and retrieval of supporting records.
  • Carry out finance-related field or programme support when assigned.

Requirements

  • Bac+2/Bac+3, HND, BTS, Licence/Bachelor or equivalent training in accounting or finance.
  • Zero to three years of relevant experience; strong recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Good numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Good Excel and office-software skills.
  • Understanding of basic accounting and document-control principles.
  • Knowledge of SYSCOHADA/OHADA is an advantage.
  • Professional proficiency in English or French; bilingual capability is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally according to programme needs.
  • Right to work in Cameroon.

Specific requirements

  • Two positions are available.
  • Experience with accounting software, audits or project finance is an advantage.
  • Candidates must be comfortable handling confidential financial information.
