About the role

ACREST is recruiting five Drivers to provide safe and reliable transport for staff, materials and programme activities. The role involves regular intercity and field travel, careful vehicle handling, basic vehicle checks and disciplined journey documentation.

The role is based in Cameroon and requires regular travel to programme implementation and distribution areas depending on operational needs.

About ACREST

ACREST is a Cameroonian non-governmental organisation developing practical, locally grounded solutions that improve livelihoods, strengthen communities and support sustainable development. ACREST is expanding a large-scale clean cooking programme focused on improving access to efficient cooking solutions for households and communities across the West, Littoral and South-West regions of Cameroon. The programme combines stove distribution, community engagement, monitoring, technical operations and the progressive development of local production capacity. ACREST is also developing CleanTechCameroon SARL, its subsidiary dedicated to local clean-technology production and related industrial activities.

Responsibilities

  • Drive staff, visitors, materials and programme equipment safely to authorised destinations.
  • Carry out daily vehicle checks and report faults promptly.
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness and basic readiness.
  • Keep accurate journey logs, mileage records and fuel records.
  • Follow assigned routes, travel schedules and safety instructions.
  • Support loading and unloading of programme materials when appropriate.
  • Ensure vehicle documents and required onboard equipment are present and current.
  • Coordinate routine servicing and communicate maintenance needs.
  • Observe road-safety requirements and professional conduct at all times.
  • Support programme field missions and events as required.

Requirements

  • At least six years of professional driving experience.
  • Valid driving licence appropriate to the vehicles assigned; a copy must be submitted with the application.
  • Demonstrated safe driving habits and good knowledge of road conditions.
  • Ability to complete basic vehicle checks and identify maintenance concerns.
  • Ability to read and complete journey logs and simple administrative records.
  • Professional proficiency in English or French; ability to communicate in both is an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel regularly and undertake early, late or extended field journeys when programme activities require it.
  • Right to work in Cameroon.

Specific requirements

  • Five positions are available.
  • Experience driving 4x4 vehicles and on rural or regional roads is strongly preferred.
  • Drivers must provide a copy of their valid driving licence at application stage.
