About the role
ACREST is recruiting a Communications & Program Officer to support both communications delivery and programme coordination. The role sits close to day-to-day implementation and is suited to someone comfortable creating content, organising activities and following through with partners, field teams and internal colleagues.
The role is based in Cameroon and requires regular travel to programme implementation and distribution areas depending on operational needs.
About ACREST
ACREST is a Cameroonian non-governmental organisation developing practical, locally grounded solutions that improve livelihoods, strengthen communities and support sustainable development. ACREST is expanding a large-scale clean cooking programme focused on improving access to efficient cooking solutions for households and communities across the West, Littoral and South-West regions of Cameroon. The programme combines stove distribution, community engagement, monitoring, technical operations and the progressive development of local production capacity. ACREST is also developing CleanTechCameroon SARL, its subsidiary dedicated to local clean-technology production and related industrial activities.
Responsibilities
- Support implementation of the communications calendar and programme communication activities.
- Create, edit and publish day-to-day social media content, including short-form video where possible.
- Support event coordination, community outreach and partner engagement.
- Collect field stories, photos, testimonials and programme updates.
- Draft programme updates, briefs, captions, presentations and other materials.
- Maintain organised media, photo and communications archives.
- Coordinate approvals and follow up on communications actions with programme teams.
- Support website and social channel updates.
- Assist with logistics and documentation for programme activities and events.
- Track basic communications metrics and maintain activity records.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing or a related field.
- Two to five years of relevant professional experience.
- Strong written communication and content-production skills.
- Comfort using social media platforms and basic content tools.
- Good organisational skills and ability to manage several small workstreams at once.
- Professional proficiency in English or French; bilingual capability is preferred.
- Ability and willingness to travel to field activities.
- Right to work in Cameroon.
Specific requirements
- Experience with Facebook, TikTok or YouTube content is an advantage.
- Basic photography, video editing or design skills are strongly valued.
- Experience supporting events or community activities is preferred.
