About the role
ACREST is recruiting a Procurement Officer to manage procurement follow-up across the programme, including local purchasing, supplier management, international sourcing and coordination of imported goods where required. The role is responsible for keeping purchasing processes organised, competitive, documented and aligned with operational needs.
The role is based in Cameroon and requires regular travel to programme implementation and distribution areas depending on operational needs.
About ACREST
ACREST is a Cameroonian non-governmental organisation developing practical, locally grounded solutions that improve livelihoods, strengthen communities and support sustainable development. ACREST is expanding a large-scale clean cooking programme focused on improving access to efficient cooking solutions for households and communities across the West, Littoral and South-West regions of Cameroon. The programme combines stove distribution, community engagement, monitoring, technical operations and the progressive development of local production capacity. ACREST is also developing CleanTechCameroon SARL, its subsidiary dedicated to local clean-technology production and related industrial activities.
Responsibilities
- Manage procurement requests from specification through sourcing, evaluation, purchase order and delivery.
- Source and evaluate local and international suppliers.
- Obtain and compare quotations and maintain clear procurement records.
- Follow up orders, deliveries, lead times and outstanding supplier actions.
- Coordinate with finance, administration, programme and technical teams.
- Support international procurement, shipping, customs documentation and import follow-up when required.
- Maintain supplier databases, contracts and performance records.
- Support stock planning and timely availability of materials and programme supplies.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or compliance.
- Ensure procurement processes are transparent, competitive and appropriately documented.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in procurement, supply chain, logistics or a related field.
- Three to five years of relevant procurement or supply-chain experience.
- Experience managing supplier quotations, purchase orders and delivery follow-up.
- Strong negotiation, organisation and documentation skills.
- Good Excel and office-software skills.
- Experience with international procurement, shipping or customs is an advantage.
- Professional proficiency in English or French; bilingual capability is strongly preferred for supplier follow-up.
- Ability to travel when supplier or programme needs require it.
- Right to work in Cameroon.
Specific requirements
- Experience supporting procurement for technical equipment, manufacturing, infrastructure or development programmes is an advantage.
- Candidates should be comfortable following transactions through to final delivery rather than only issuing purchase orders.
